Worship at Calvary: December 1

This past Sunday was the first Sunday of Advent. During Advent, there’s a duality to our worship. When we sing O Come, O Come, Emmanuel, we do so not just looking back to Jesus’ first advent but also looking ahead in anticipation for his second coming. Jesus came with authority and power over sickness, death, and sin; we want Him to rule in our hearts now; and we look forward to the day when His Kingdom will be established forever.

Here’s our worship order from this past Sunday, December 1, 2013:

Psalm 80:1-7
Come Thou Fount
Behold Our God
O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus
Communion Song: From the Squalor of a Borrowed Stable

As my life has gotten busier this year, these song lists have gotten less frequent, but I hope to be more consistent about posting them again.
